We're at that time of year again where seasonal weed growth is popping up around the lakes. Weed can get wrapped around the propeller and cause the engine to struggle. We encourage anglers to check the prop area of the lake regularly to ensure the engine works effectively throughout the day. Its simple to do, follow the below procedure:
Step 1: Drop the anchor to stop the boat from drifting into shallow water and remove the kill cord.
Step 2: Place the engine in 'forward' gear
Step 3: Gently pull the engine forwards.
Step 4: The engine will automatically be secured in place by the inbuilt restraining catch. Clear the propeller of weed.
Step 5: Using one hand pull the engine slightly forward.
Step 6: Using your other hand release the restraining clip and lower the engine.
Step 7: replace kill cord and re start engine.
It takes just a minute or two to clear a prop of weed and can make a significant difference in the overall operation of a boat throughout the day.
Our team will continue to cut weed where possible but anglers should be wary of particularly bad/shallow areas such as the area in front of the lodge and patches in and around Top End.
