Algae bloom suspends access to Barrow No.3 reservoir

We’re temporarily suspending access to one of our Barrow reservoirs, also known as the Barrow Tanks, due to high levels of toxic blue-green algae. This means restricting normal access to angling and bird watching activities at Barrow No.3 reservoir. Blue-green algae is naturally-occurring in places like reservoirs but it can be harmful to animals and humans so please stay away from the reservoir area until the bloom clears. Please adhere to the warning signs in place at the reservoir. We’ll update you as soon as the restrictions can be lifted. Further information and advice on blue-green algae can be found on the Government website
